NRF Statement on North Carolina Court’s Ruling on Motion for Preliminary Injunction to Ensure Fair Elections

Washington, D.C. -- Today, Marina Jenkins, Director of Policy and Litigation for the National Redistricting Foundation (NRF), released the following statement in response to the Wake County Superior Court’s ruling on the plaintiffs’ motion for preliminary injunction in the NRF-supported case Harper v. Hall

“Today’s ruling was disappointing, and wrongly decided. North Carolinians ought to be given the opportunity, under the protections vested in the state’s constitution, to vote in elections that are free and fair. But that’s not what the court gave them today. We will continue to fight to ensure North Carolinians are not forced to vote in unconstitutional districts, and to ensure they are given a fair map that accurately reflects the will of the people.”
